Construction Casualty Underwriter (Senior or AVP)Zurich is
currently hiring a Construction Primary Casualty Underwriter
(Senior or AVP) to join the Construction team in the Tri-State area
of New York (New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York), Boston, or
Philadelphia regions. As a member of Zurich's Underwriting Team,
you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your
underwriting and marketing skills while building relationships with
our Preferred Distribution Partners within the Northeast territory.
This is an exciting time to join Construction at Zurich!In this
role, you will handle a wide range of large, complex construction
risk types including new and renewal accounts across Auto, GL, and
Worker's Compensation as well as large project/wrap-up insurance
programs.While candidates with construction casualty experience are
ideal, we will consider Senior Underwriter candidates who have a
desire to expand their skillsets in the construction risk
management space.This role will be filled at either the Senior
Underwriter (Level III) or AVP Underwriter (Level IV). The hiring
manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the
selected applicant's experience and skillset relative to the
qualifications listed for this position.The Construction Casualty
Underwriter is responsible for:
- Serving as a customer industry advocate with a focus on
improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and
offering the best end-to-end solution for their insurance
needs.
- Using a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk
assessment, and pricing.
- Using risk insights, data, and models to drive informed
decisions at point of sale.
- Market facing and production within the growing Construction
division.
- Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines,
insurance laws and regulations, and rating manual rules.
- Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex
assignments.Basic Qualifications:Construction Casualty Underwriter
Senior:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of
experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of
experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaOR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate
Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or
Market Facing areaOR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate
Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or
Underwriting Support area.Construction Casualty Underwriter AVP:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of
experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaOR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of
experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaOR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate
Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or
Market Facing areaOR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate
Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or
Underwriting Support areaAND
- Experience with Microsoft Office.Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Technical knowledge of Construction Casualty Underwriting.
- Established broker relationships (retail brokers) in New
England and/or Greater NY metro region.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.At Zurich,
compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors,
including but not limited to the specific office location, role,
skill set, and level of experience. In compliance with local laws,
Zurich commits to providing a fair and reasonable compensation
range for each role. The combined salary range for this position is
$120,000.00 - $222,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Senior
is $120,000.00 - $170,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus
eligibility set at 15%. For the AVP is $172,000.00 - $222,000.00,
with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.As a global
