patient care team to provide clinical patient care assessment,
initiation, modification and discontinuance of therapeutic
respiratory care procedures to critically ill patients. Analyzes
and evaluates clinical patient data to determine the appropriate
therapy or interventions and makes recommendations on patient care
plans to the medical staff.Does this position require Patient
Care?YesEssential Functions
- Initiates and/or assists with appropriate respiratory and
extracorporeal life support (ECLS) tests and procedures, as
ordered, to deliver appropriate care to patients.
- Responds to respiratory and ECLS emergencies and transports
patients when moved from units for tests and procedures.
- Prepares appropriate care plan and makes specific
recommendations to physician for indicated therapy. Schedules
patient treatments as necessary and provides consultation as an
active member of the patient care team.
- Manages the administration of all aspects of respiratory
therapy and ECLS according to the policies and procedures,
including ECLS equipment.
- Makes regular bedside rounds and administers Respiratory Care
modalities to assigned patients. Modifies treatment care plan
according to clinical picture and response to therapy.
- Participates in education of students, physicians, staff, and
patients/families. Clinically supervises respiratory therapy
students in patient areas.QualificationsEducationAssociate's Degree
Respiratory Therapy required and Bachelor's Degree Respiratory
Therapy preferredCan this role accept experience in lieu of a

requiredExperienceCritical care experience 1-2 years required and
ELSO certification preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with physicians,
nurses and other allied health care members.
- Strong patient assessment skills.
- Strong organizational skills needed to assist staff therapists
in prioritizing/triaging work.
- Demonstrates ability to motivate and direct professional and
technical staff.
- Ability to walk distances and push medical equipment weighing
less than 100 lbs. may also be required to stand immobile for long
