What you'll need to succeed as Scientist, Data Science at
XPO
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military
experience
- 1 year experience in data science, operations research, or data
analysis with a focus on advanced analytics, statistical modeling,
machine learning, forecasting and optimization
- Experience in at least one programming language such as Python,
R, SQL, SAS, Spark, Java, etc.
- Familiarity with machine learning and statistical methods
- Strong communication skills with a knack for explaining complex
topics simplyPreferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics,
Engineering, Economics or any related quantitative discipline
- A Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics,
Engineering, Economics or any related quantitative discipline
- 3 years of experience in data science, operations research, or
data analysis with a focus on advanced analytics, statistical
modeling, machine learning, forecasting and optimization
- Demonstrated examples of generating business insights that
improved operations or financials
- Solid foundation of statistics (hypothesis testing, outlier
detection, statistical inference & analysis)
- Applied supervised and/or unsupervised learning algorithmsAbout

you'll do on a typical day:
- Analyze and interpret large data sets to identify opportunities
that will improve XPO's operational and financial performance
- Partner with technology and business stakeholders to create and
enhance processes, software applications, metrics and
decision-making
- Serve as a subject matter expert in one or more facets of the
operations
- Leverage data analytics and modelling techniques to improve
overall operational performance
- Perform various analytics that range in complexity from
descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive and cognitive
depending on the project
- Apply Machine Learning, AI, statistical and/or optimization
methods on an as needed basis
- Combine your technical skills (computer science, mathematics)
with business acumen to solve XPO's most critical problems
