MassCareers.The Betsy Lehman Center (the Center) is a dynamic state
agency that plays a unique role in improving health care safety and
quality in Massachusetts.We are seeking a creative and resourceful
individual to serve as the Center's Communication Specialist. This
is a full-time position, reporting to the Director of
Communications, with an annual salary commensurate with experience.
The Center operates on a hybrid work model with at least two
designated days each week in the Center's office near Copley Square
in Boston, allowing for flexible, remote work on other days.As the
Communication Specialist, you will have the opportunity to be part
of a highly collaborative team, contribute to impactful public
health programs and work on a variety of design and communications
projects.The Communication Specialist will work on all of the
Center's most important external-facing materials.
- Website: Regularly update existing pages and design and
implement dynamic new content for programs, initiatives, research
and other projects in collaboration with the Center's staff.
Continually monitor the website to ensure that information is
accurate, content is current, and pages are free of error.
- Social media: Keep the Center's social media presence lively
and engaging by writing posts, designing content, and maintaining
editorial calendars.
- Newsletter: Support the communications team in producing
Patient Safety Beat, the Center's monthly email newsletter. Build
pages on the website for news stories and assemble the newsletter
on Constant Contact.Other duties include:
- Create engaging videos and infographics for the newsletter,
website and social media.
- Track and report on social media, newsletter and website
analytics.
- Create visual content and design for the Center's reports,
presentations and other collateral materials, ensuring strong brand
management.
- Support Center staff in producing virtual events and webinars
on Zoom.
- Coordinate and grow contact lists for external
communications.
- Support communications team in developing marketing and
communications plans, including strategies for disseminating
reports and raising awareness of the Center's programs.The
successful candidate is someone who has a desire to contribute to a
small team with an important mission and who also has:
- Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication
skills.
- Graphic design experience, including knowledge of Adobe
InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Web management skills, including familiarity with content
management systems such as WordPress, Drupal, and/or Craft.
Proficiency with HTML and CSS is a plus.
- Experience with email marketing platforms and social media
management tools.
- Knowledge of social media and web (Google Analytics 4) data
analytics.
- Photography and videography skills, including experience using
DSLR cameras and ability to edit videos with Adobe Premiere is a
plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.Minimum Entrance Requirements:
- At least 3 years of professional, administrative or managerial
experience in business administration, business management or
public administration involving program management, program
administration, program coordination, program planning and/or
program analysis.
- A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration,
business management or public administration and at least 1 year of
professional, administrative or managerial experience in business
administration, business management or public administration
involving program management, program administration, program
coordination, program planning and/or program analysis.
- A Graduate degree with a major in business administration,
business management or public administration.
- A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in
business administration, business management or public
administration and at least 2 years of professional, administrative
or managerial experience in business administration, business
management or public administration involving program management,
program administration, program coordination, program planning

Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or
equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial
experience in business administration, business management or
public administration involving program management, program

program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required
experience and the substitutions below.
- A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration,
business management or public administration may be substituted for
a maximum of two years of the required experience.
- A Graduate degree with a major in business administration,
business management or public administration may be substituted for
the required experience.
- A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in
business administration, business management or public
administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the
