Analyst - Personal Lines Performance (Hybrid)We are seeking a
Product Analyst with insurance/product management experience to
join our Performance team as part of the Product Analytics
organization. The position includes responsibility for providing
countrywide insights on the profit and growth performance of our
Personal Lines products. This role will report directly to the
Personal Lines Performance Senior Manager.The Product Analyst is
part of the Product Analytics team and will work cross functionally
within Product Management on a regular basis to design and build
financial and operational models and tools to report on and analyze
performance and influence product improvements. Strong candidates
are collaborative, curious, have a passion for working with data,
problem solvers with strong quantitative acumen, demonstrate strong
analytical and problem-solving skills. This position offers an
excellent opportunity to interact with a variety of departments in
the organization (Product, Finance, Claims, Reserving, Operations,
etc.) and the broader American Family community.Position
Compensation Range: $77,000.00 - $127,000.00Pay Rate Type:
SalaryCompensation may vary based on the job level and your
geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for
eligible candidates.Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the project management and creation of the monthly
and quarterly reporting on Personal Lines business results.
- Perform variance analysis on a countrywide basis.
- Understand premium and coverage/peril drivers as well as claims
and sales performance.
- Deliver operational insights to achieve key performance
indicators.
- Analyze drivers of profitability, including production,
retention, average premium, frequency/severity trends, loss ratios,
and other data.
- Recommend actions to achieve profitability and growth
goals.
- Perform modeling, "what-if" scenarios on production, premium,
and loss trends.
- Build and enhance resources using Excel, Tableau, Power BI,
etc. to create efficiency in processes used to maintain monthly and
quarterly reporting.Requirements
- Relevant Experience: A minimum of 4 years of professional
experience, ideally including work in Property & Casualty
insurance.
- Educational Credentials: A bachelor's degree and quantitative
analytical knowledge is required; a graduate degree and/or CPCU
designation is preferred, but not required.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: A self-starter who can identify
business opportunities, develop a product plan to capitalize on
those opportunities, and successfully implement the plan.
- Structured & Logical Thinking: The ability to identify and
define business problems and issues, and develop strategic,
analytical, and financial frameworks to conduct analyses.
- Analytical Rigor: Analyze state performance, identify
additional areas of research, and recommend improvements.
- Powerful Communication: The ability to communicate effectively,
succinctly across a variety of media, and to various levels of
management, including Senior Executives.
- Team Player: The candidate is collaborative, and able to work
well as part of a team.
- Software Experience: Subject matter expertise in the areas of
SQL, SAS, R, Python, Tableau, Power BI, and/or other
programming/data query/reporting knowledge, in addition,
intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Think-cell knowledge is highly preferred.Personal
Qualifications:The candidate selected for this position will be a
creative, out-of-the-box thinker who is intellectually curious with
a demonstrated interest in learning. This person will also need to
be a self-motivated, high-energy individual who can easily function
in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment. He/she must have a
passion for working with big data, and building simple, visual
tools and reports to analyze results. Be accustomed to working on
multiple tasks in parallel and committed to meeting deadlines,
including some with short time frames. This professional must
demonstrate strong leadership skills, including the ability to gain
credibility with and influence both team members and management.In
this hybrid role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days
per month from the office. Candidates should reside within
approximately 35-50 miles of one of the following office locations:
Madison, WI 53783; Boston, MA 02110.Internal candidates are
