IT ProgrammerReports to: Director of Information TechnologyGeneral statement of duties and responsibilities:Works on the Offender Management System (OMS) and supports the system utilized for data recording and processing with the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department; performs related duties as assigned.Objectives of this role:

  • Works on OMS which maintains all inmate-related records; supports all user requests; provides all necessary and approved access to system; creates OMS reports as needed; works on data requests from external agencies.
  • A hands-on position, the individual will be responsible for the OMS issues, upgrades and follow-up activities.
  • Assists in all the devices that connect to OMS such as fingerprint machines; monitors all interfaces related to OMS.
  • Participates in all ongoing tasks related to the state offenders data projects.
  • Helps streamline work processes for the overall operation of OMS.Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Applicant must be proficient with MS SQL server with 5+ years of experience.
  • Applicant must possess a Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related major; an advanced degree in computer science is desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL query language to manipulate and retrieve data efficiently.
  • Extensive experience with Crystal Reports 2013 running against MS SQL server; proficiency with Crystal Reports Server 2013 is desirable.
  • Knowledge of database structure and stored procedures.
  • Possess analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
