Job Description:
The Deployment Engineer - Team Lead will be a key member of the
Automation Team which is responsible for supporting the integration
of our meal assembly automation - the Infinite Kitchen - into new
and existing restaurants. Our goals are to improve the daily
routines for our restaurant staff, optimize their workflows, and
enable an outstanding customer experience. As sweetgreen expands
its footprint of automated kitchens, we are looking for a
Deployment Engineer, Team Lead to install and maintain our
automation equipment, both software and hardware, across the
country.This is an ideal role for someone with technical field
leadership experience, excited to be working on cutting edge
restaurant technology while being supported by a great company

full time role, with up to 75% travel time expectancy. Travel
expenses and travel time may be compensated or reimbursed in line

- Lead a small team of technicians, who report to you directly,
as we deploy our automation equipment, the Infinite Kitchen, in new
and existing sweetgreen restaurants across the US.
- Own the deployment of each store from start to finish,
including planning, execution and follow up
- Manage team travel schedules
- Develop and train team members, fostering their growth and
career development to help them progress into deployment lead
roles
- Run commissioning testing during deployments with decreasing
software support
- Coordinate with General Contractor (GC) and other third parties
involved
- Maintain deployment timelines, while holding GCs and other
third parties accountable
- Ensure safe working environments
- Maintain excellent documentation throughout the deployment and
schedule follow-up visits as needed
- Advocate for third party resources needed to complete site
punchlists
- Schedule technicians to support restaurant training days
- Prep for deployments
- Attend construction calls and advocate for IK needs at each
site, assess if the sites are tracking with the IK install
date
- Lead deployment prep, tools and kitting for your deployment
sites. Improve internal systems, and provide feedback to 3rd party
vendors
- Improve workflows and systems as they relate to the deployment
of IKs
- Own and improve the deployment SOP, Packing Lists, Kits and
other operational resources
- Train team members on how to use these systems
- Make deployments more efficient, with the long term goal of
improving efficiency and repeatability
- Support the transfer of the SG-provided Bill of Materials (BOM)
to our contract manufacturer
- Provide high quality feedback to our engineering teams for long
term improvements to our systems
- Support technician related tasks while in Boston during periods
of fewer deployments, including but not limited to:
- Support for maintenance trips
- Lab improvement projects
- Refurbishment of part returned from maintenance tripsWho you
are:
- 3+ years of related work experience, such as: Robotics
Technician, Service Technician, Integration Engineer, Installation
Engineer, etc.
- 1+ years of experience leading technical teams
- 1+ years of experience installing large automation
equipment
- Familiarity and experience with construction sites, comfortable
communicating with general contractors
- Flexible to travel and work around restaurant operating hours,
including dealing with unexpected issues. Available to be on-call
during some holidays & weekends
- Process oriented person who is excited to collaborate with our
leadership team on new processes and procedures that help better
our organization.
- Able to keep calm and communicate under pressure
- Flexible to work overtime during travel weeks
- Proficient in trouble shooting complex systems (mechanical,
pneumatic, plumbing, electrical, etc)
- Able to precisely follow layout mechanical and electrical
drawings and construction blueprints used in the installation of
equipment
- Proficient in digital tools such as google docs and sheets,
able to learn new software tools quickly such as Service Channel
for work orders or inventory
- Neat and organized, and great attention to documentation
- Excited about being part of a new and fast growing industry.
Available to regularly travel to any of the 50 states (up to 75% of
the time), by use of plane and train
- Capable of managing equipment installation entailing use of
hand tools, power tools, Volt/Ohm Meter, climbing, bending, and
stooping
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Capable of communicating clearly in EnglishThis job posting is
