Job DescriptionThe Vertex Co-op Program offers students the
opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a
hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning
from some of the brightest people in the industry. When you join

tasks through their specific work assignments, but they will

teams.Job Summary:The Tax Department is responsible for global tax
accounting, tax compliance, tax advice and planning for Vertex. The
Tax intern/co-op is a key member within Vertex's Tax Department.
Responsibilities include supporting the tax function in the
determination of US federal, state and local corporate tax
provisions, estimation of book-to-tax differences, and ASC 740 tax
accounting matters including involvement with the quarterly/annual
SEC tax footnote. The position will also include assisting in the
US federal, state and local tax compliance. The individual will
assist with quarterly US federal and state estimates calculation,
address notices received by various state jurisdictions, and assist
with any potential federal and state corporate income tax audits.
The individual is expected to also be an innovator and leverage
technology to help transform the global tax function and develop
effective working relationships with staff and management, as well
as finance, legal and other operating personnel.Key
Responsibilities:
- Assist in quarterly global tax provision processes, including
gathering information for tax-related disclosures
- Provide data for federal and state income tax return filings
prepared by 3rd party tax consultants
- Responsible for tracking and addressing state and local
corporate income tax notices
- Assist in gathering information for potential US federal and
state corporate income tax audits with various tax authorities
- Maintain internal controls documentation
- Evaluate current processes and technology to generate
continuous improvements and automation enhancements
- Participate in special projects where needed, such as general
tax planning and tax rate modelingQualifications:
- Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; degree in taxation or
related field preferred
- Must have experience with Excel
- Ability to communicate project status to ensure internal
deadlines are met
- Willingness and ability to work as both an individual
contributor and on a team
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and time management
skills
- Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in

- Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if
graduating before July 2025
- Candidate must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per
week from July - December 2025Program Dates: July - December 2025,
Full TimePay Range: 20.00 - 32.00 USD/hourThis job posting is for a
