Job Description:
Product Manager (The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. - Boston, Massachusetts): Drive the development of capabilities that will
increase the commercialization of BCG proprietary assets including
defining and supporting repeatable assessment frameworks, creating business
tools and platforms to facilitate development, and supporting active
products with data and analysis. Specific duties include: business
requirements gathering, defining the statement of work, product development,
and application delivery and support management; work closely with
practice area product owners to improve the commercial success of
proprietary business products with clients and provide dedicated
non-technical product support; support development of a product business case
according to set standards and evaluate and recommend options for business
operating models based on an understanding of use cases, the competitive
landscape, and technology trends; create a clear and complete architecture,
design, and specification documentation in collaboration with vendors,
software architects, and security specialists; act as a technical leader
on projects to ensure quality and on-time delivery, making technical and
business recommendations to the product owner and taking stakeholder
input to identify creative solutions; instruct and direct the development
team, formulate and define system scope, and integrate business
requirements and objectives based on user-defined needs; direct application
delivery; develop and implement launch plans to rollout products to
technical and non- technical service delivery teams; provide training, assistance,
and support to the service delivery team; collaborate with vendors and team
members to identify, research, and resolve system technical and business
problems and performance issues; coordinate with the practice areas to
articulate commercialization plans and support internal business
development as well as specific promotional activities; capture user feedback,
prioritize methods to enhance products, and maintain product roadmaps and
investment cases; expand the reach and effectiveness of existing products
and recommend new business execution and technological improvements;
and provide input and support for cross-functional initiatives and
disseminate best practices for practice areas products. Requires a
Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, computer science or related
field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and seven (7)
years of experience in technical product development which must include
at least two (2) years of experience performing product management, product
marketing, and product finance OR a Master’s degree in business
administration, marketing, computer science or related field (willing to accept
foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience in
technical product development which must include at least two (2) years of
experience performing product management, product marketing, and product
finance. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience
requirement not applicable to this section) - must have demonstrated proficiency
in the following: (i) organizational, planning and project management
skills; (ii) ability to evolve product strategy based on research, data and
industry trends; (iii) software design principles including Agile
Software development, Object-oriented programming, and SDLC; (iv)
utilizing n-tier software architecture and hardware/software configurations;
(v) understanding of technology deployment models including cloud,
SaaS, on premises; (vi) working with agile software development methods
such as Scrum, XP, or Rational Unified Process; (vii) budget management,
financial modelling, revenue management, P&L management; and (viii)
performing marketing and communications for software products. Multiple
positions available. Travel (30%) is required based on company/client
need. Must have unrestricted authorization to work in U.S. M-F, 9:00 a.m. to
