Job Description:

Duties: The Equity Research Analyst will perform fundamental equity
research on a coverage universe, providing investment ideas for the
portfolios and contributing to the investment performance of the firm.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Generate proprietary fundamental analysis of the sector, the
industry, the companies and the stocks by meeting with top management of
companies, industry experts, sell-side analysts and experienced colleagues.
• Create detailed financial projections for the companies and develop
valuation analysis on the stocks to develop investment recommendations
(versus sector, versus market) for the assigned stocks.
• Investigate stocks generated by the proprietary ranking process to
identify potential to meet the fund’s key criteria of attractive valuation
and future positive change.
• Identify stocks through Analyst’s own process of monitoring
opportunities in his/her sub-sector area(s) by, for example, using screens,
Fidelity research and sell-side research, and meeting with management teams.
• Maintain coverage of assigned sector stocks held in the sector
portfolio, including: performing industry analysis -- monitoring trends and
developing a view regarding the relative attractiveness of the assigned sub
sectors; maintaining up-to-date recommendations and target prices; creating
and maintaining proprietary financial models and valuation analysis;
monitoring investment thesis to track progress of improving dynamics and
other critical variables; conducting proprietary research; and
collaborating with other Fidelity Analysts and supplementing their work in
support of the assigned sub sectors.
• Communicate updates and recommendations to the sector team and
broader Fidelity investment organization, including in-person discussions,
supplemented by written reports, as needed.

Requirements: Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Finance,
Economics, Business, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a closely
related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or two (2)
years of experience performing fundamental equity and quantitative research
of consumer durable goods sector fundamentals. Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing quantitative modeling and building
supply demand models of consumer durable goods companies and sector
performance, using Excel, Bloomberg, FactSet, Capital IQ, and Haver DLX; DE
building financial valuation models, industry supply-demand models, and
equity screening models, including analysis of impact of macro-economic
factors and raw materials on demand, profitability, and returns; DE
conducting interviews of C-level executives of publicly traded companies,
industry experts, and industry participants -- competitors and suppliers --
to develop actionable investment insights; and DE performing primary and
secondary research to analyze consumer trends to project implications on
financial results, and converting research results into and presenting
written and verbal investment proposals within the consumer durable goods
sector to portfolio managers.
